In anticipation of the emergence of organized retail in India, the Group channeled its expertise to exploit business opportunities. It was the real opportunity to interact with the end user through the company’s maiden EBO store in India, at Commercial Street, Bangalore in November 2006. Strategically, it came at the most appropriate time, when India was charging toward organized retail sector and increase in ppp.

An aspirational preference for fashionable outfits among India consumers has led to an unprecedented growth in the fashion industry and its size may magnify to a mammoth Rs8000 crore in the in the coming decade. Currently, the footwear industry carves out a large chunk of that pie which almost adds up to Rs3000 crore. In fact, India ranks second among the footwear producing countries next only to China.
